One in four pregnancies end in abortion. Despite this fact, access to a safe and legal abortion is not guaranteed in the United States or around the world. The Abortion Access infographic is an interactive graphic that explores different barriers and resources surrounding abortion access. In the United States, only 39 states require sexual education in schools, and only 17 of those 39 states require that the information taught be medically accurate. We know that a lack of sexual education contributes to higher unwanted pregnancy rates which can in turn contribute to higher unsafe abortion rates. My goal for this project was to highlight how this current model for sexual education is failing while also providing a more comprehensive and accurate sexual education resource through the creation of a fun and engaging game that could be used as a part of a sexual education curriculum that presents factual information and resources on topics such as contraception, safe sex, puberty and anatomy.
